As some of the most experienced river runners in Hells Canyon, the crew at Killgore Adventures garners a lot of attention. With Hells Canyon jet boat tours running throughout the year, we’ve built a name for ourselves as the #1 adventure company in Idaho. But to those in the know, the real adventure in Hells Canyon lies below the surface of the water.
The Salmon River and the Snake River are the sites of some of the best fishing in North America. The depth of the canyon, paired with the massive waterways running through it ensures that fish of all sizes and types have plenty of room to grow and roam. Steelhead, trout, and bass can be found at the end of nearly every line. Renowned angler, Carter Andrews, is traveling to Hells Canyon in pursuit a much bigger catch, however.
Beneath the rapids of the river lie sturgeon. Massive, ancient, and almost otherworldly, these titans of the deep are some of the most spectacular parts of the Hells Canyon environment. They also make for truly impressive “big fish” stories. Carter knows that the best way to catch one for himself is to pair up with Kurt and the team at Killgore Adventures.
JOIN KILLGORE ADVENTURES ON THE FIRST EPISODE OF THIS NEW SERIES
National Geographic has produced a six-episode series featuring Carter Andrews as he travels around the world in pursuit of some of the greatest fish out there. Legendary Catch will also explore local fishing customs and culture, highlighting that the activity can truly unite people of all backgrounds.
The series begins in Hells Canyon when Andrews partners with the Killgore crew. In pursuit of the giant White Sturgeon, Andrews and Killgore will put their skills to the test in order to reel in these fish that average 7 to 12 feet in length.
WHO IS CARTER ANDREWS?
There are few more inspired by the art of fishing than Carter “Big Boy” Andrews. From his days as a young man fishing in the rivers and streams of Tennessee to his fishing adventures all over the globe, Andrews has been solely focused on fishing for as long as he can remember. More than just an avid angler, Andrews is a world-class fishing guide, taking groups to more than 15 different countries to catch amazing fish both fresh and saltwater.
WHO IS KURT KILLGORE?
If you’ve ever been on one of our amazing river adventures, you already know who Captain Kurt Killgore is. But for those who are just meeting him for the first time on Legendary Catch, you might need a more formal introduction. An outdoorsman through and through, Killgore grew up in the Hells Canyon region, spending his time explore its mountain peaks and rivers. With more than 20 years of experience leading whitewater and jet boat trips up and down the Wild River sections of Hells Canyon, and with countless hours spent on both the Snake and Salmon Rivers, Killgore knows the area like the back of his hand. It was only natural then for Andrews and Killgore to team up to catch one of the largest fish in North America.
